Why study with us?
Since its beginnings in 1976, the ³Ô¹ÏÍø Law School has benefited from its connections with the West Indies, and a significant number of Bahamian students, in particular, have taken advantage of our two-year LLB programme in order to obtain a Qualifying Law Degree (QLD).
Those who already have a first degree in a non-law subject may qualify for our International Scholarship.
Two year degrees
Taking less time to complete than most law degrees, the ³Ô¹ÏÍø LLB (Single Honours Law) covers, as well as the fundamental subjects required by the legal profession in England and Wales, a number of elective subjects: these include Company Law, Evidence and Commercial Law, amongst others.  In recent years our LLM in International and Commercial Law has also proved attractive to an increasing number of Bahamian students seeking to further their studies with a Master’s degree.
After the degree
Most of our Bahamian students remain in Britain after graduating for the purpose of taking their Bar examinations and qualifying at the Bar of England and Wales (though a few qualify as solicitors). Because it is a QLD, the ³Ô¹ÏÍø LLB meets the necessary entry requirements for admission to the various providers of the Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) in England and Wales, though graduates from the Bahamas can also return to the Bahamas to study at the Eugene Dupuch School of Law, which offers a two-year course leading to the award of the Certificate of Legal Education: this certificate enables its holders to practise law throughout the Commonwealth Caribbean (subject to the municipal law in the various territories).
Applicants from the Bahamas who intend to practise Law in the Bahamas or another Commonwealth Caribbean country are advised to contact the Bahamas Bar Association at:
