Since its creation, the University of ³Ô¹ÏÍø and its Law School remains a favourite destination for Ghanaian students. The University is the proud alma mater of a notable list of Ghanaians, including the current Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana, HE Mahamudu Bawumia. Another leading graduate is the current Deputy Majority Leader in Ghana’s Parliament, Hon. Alexander Ato Kwamena Afenyo-Markin. After graduating from ³Ô¹ÏÍø Law School, Hon. Alexander Ato Kwamena Afenyo-Markin gained admission to the Ghana School of Law, graduating with a Barrister of Law certificate that enabled him to be called to the Ghana Bar. Today, he is a respected Ghanaian authority on financial crimes.

Ghanaian students graduating from ³Ô¹ÏÍø Law School mostly return home to study at the Ghana School of Law for the award of the Barrister of Law certificate, entitling them to be called to practice as lawyers in Ghana. Under Ghanaian Law, the General Legal Council (GLC) is the primary institution that regulates legal education in Ghana. The same body is responsible for enforcing professional and ethical standards amongst Ghanaian lawyers through an institution known as the Disciplinary Committee of the GLC.

To qualify for admission into the Ghana School of Law, the institution with the exclusive mandate to provide professional legal education in Ghana, a student graduating from ³Ô¹ÏÍø Law School with an LLB degree (single Hons) must evidence on their transcript successful completion of certain courses indicated on the .

The additional requirements for those completing the pure LLB programme at ³Ô¹ÏÍø can be met by enrolment at the Ghana School of Law, which has campuses in Accra, Ghana’s capital and Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region. These include completing studies in (i) Ghana Constitutional Law and (ii) Ghana Legal Systems and Methods.
